The first Educational Conference StartUP HUB organized by the Smart Klaster – StartUP HUB, held on the 16th and 17th of February 2023 in Hotel Solisko at Štrbské Pleso, was aimed at increasing the professional level of members of the cluster and partners.

The aim of the conference was to introduce participants to innovative ideas, products or services of startups or entrepreneurs and high-tech companies. Among the participants were also government representatives, including Vladimír Tanistrák (representative of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic) and Vladimír Borza (representative of the Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency), who informed about cluster policy in Slovakia. At the same time, they informed participants about the international cluster event called Clusters Meet Regions, which will be held on the 29th and 30th of March 2023 in Košice.

During the conference were also presented the possibilities of startup cooperation with Taiwan by Shaolin Hu (representative of the Taipei Representative Office) and Amy Yeh (representative of the Startup Terrace programme). The possibilities of engaging agri-food startups and innovative companies into the EIT Food support programmes in 2023, including EIT Jumpstarter, Test Farms and TeamUp, were presented by Milan Fiľa (representative of EIT Food Hub Slovakia). In addition, Ján Durec, Director of Research and Development at McCarter introduced participants to innovative trends in the drink production and Ľuboš Magdolen from the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava presented solutions to artificial intelligence in smart mobility. The whole educational conference was focused on innovations and innovative solutions with their real overlap with the business.

The conference also included B2B networking and the participants - representatives of startups or established businesses had the opportunity to exchange contacts, experiences, and practical advice with each other, which led to outlining possible cooperation opportunities in the future.

During the second day of the conference, the General Assembly was held, as well as the of the Board of Directors and Supervisory Board of Smart Klaster – StartUP HUB, in which the Executive Director Miroslav Poláček informed about the activity report of Smart Klaster – StartUP HUB for 2022 and presented the activity plan for the year 2023.
